These Competition Rules (the “Rules”) govern every skill-based prize competition (each a “Competition”) operated on https://winthecard.com (the “Website”) by CARD VAULT COLLECTIBLES LTD, trading as WinTheCard, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17330317, registered office 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom) (the “Promoter”). These Rules apply together with our Terms of Use. In the event of any conflict, these Rules prevail in respect of the matters they cover. Competition-specific details — including the prize, the ticket price, the maximum number of entries, the entry limit per person, the opening and closing dates and the draw date — are displayed on the relevant Competition page and form part of these Rules for that Competition.
1. Eligibility
1.1 Entry is open to persons aged 18 or over. Proof of age and identity will be required before any prize is delivered. 1.2 Our services and marketing are directed at the United Kingdom. Residents of other jurisdictions may enter only where participation in prize competitions of this nature is lawful in their jurisdiction; it is the entrant’s responsibility to verify this before entering. Players from Germany are not allowed to participate due to legal restrictions. Entries from sanctioned or prohibited jurisdictions (as listed in the Terms of Use) are not permitted, and the use of a VPN to disguise your location is prohibited. 1.3 Employees, officers, directors, consultants, contractors and agents of the Promoter, any person who has or may have had access to competition answers, and any relative or member of the same household of such persons (including any spouse, partner, parent, child, step-child, sibling or in-law), may not enter any Competition, directly or indirectly. Any such entry is invalid.
2. How to enter
2.1 To enter, purchase one or more tickets (“Tickets”) on the relevant Competition page and complete the checkout process, providing accurate personal details (full name, email address, telephone number and postal address). 2.2 After payment, you will be shown the Skill Challenge: a multiple-choice question requiring specialist knowledge, analysis or deduction, with only one correct answer, subject to a time limit displayed on the Competition page, which starts when the question is first displayed. You must select and submit your answer before the time limit expires. 2.3 Only entries with the correct answer submitted within the time limit are entered into the draw. Tickets associated with an incorrect answer or an expired time limit do not proceed to the draw and are not refunded. 2.4 Your entry is confirmed by email once payment has cleared. The confirmation email is the record of your entry, including your Ticket numbers and, where applicable, your recorded answer and submission time. 2.5 Answers must be your own. Assistance from third parties, collusion, sharing or publishing questions or answers, and the use of bots, automated tools or artificial intelligence tools are strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.
3. Competition period and entry numbers
3.1 Each Competition opens and closes on the dates and times stated on the Competition page. Each Competition is limited to the maximum number of entries stated on the Competition page, and an indication of entries sold or remaining is displayed on that page. The Competition closes when the last Ticket is sold or the closing date passes, whichever is earlier. 3.2 The maximum number of entries per person is stated on the Competition page.
4. Minimum entries — cancellation and refund guarantee
4.1 Each Competition is subject to a minimum participation threshold: if fewer than 50% (fifty per cent) of the maximum number of entries stated on the Competition page have been sold by the closing date, the Competition will be cancelled and will not proceed to a draw. 4.2 The Promoter may, before cancelling, extend the closing date once by up to 14 (fourteen) calendar days, in accordance with the Terms of Use. Any extension will be announced on the Competition page. If, at the end of any extension, fewer than 50% of the maximum entries have been sold, the Competition will be cancelled. 4.3 Where a Competition is cancelled under this clause 4, every entrant will receive a full refund of the price paid for their Tickets in that Competition, to the original payment method, within 10 (ten) working days of the cancellation announcement. No deduction will be made. Entrants will be notified by email, and the cancellation will be announced on the Competition page. 4.4 Where 50% or more of the maximum entries have been sold by the closing date (as extended, if applicable), the draw will take place as planned regardless of whether the Competition is sold out.
5. The draw 5.1 Following the close of the Competition, all valid entries with the correct answer submitted within the time limit are entered into a random draw. The winning entry is selected using certified random number generator software, and the draw may be conducted by an independent promotional verification service and/or broadcast live on the Website or our social media channels. 5.2 The draw takes place on the date stated on the Competition page. Following the draw, the Promoter will publish on the Website: the winning entrant (surname and county), the winning Ticket number, the correct answer to the Skill Challenge, and the number of correct entries.
6. Winner notification and verification
6.1 The Promoter will make reasonable attempts to contact the winner using the telephone number and/or email address provided at checkout, within 5 (five) calendar days of the draw. 6.2 The winner must confirm acceptance of the prize within 30 (thirty) calendar days of first contact, and must complete identity, age and eligibility verification (including providing photographic ID, proof of age and proof of address) within 10 (ten) calendar days of the Promoter’s request. 6.3 If the winner cannot be contacted, fails to claim, fails verification, or is found to have breached these Rules or the Terms of Use, the prize is forfeited and the Promoter may select an alternative winner from the remaining correct entries. 6.4 A list of winners (surname and county) is available on the Website and on request for at least one month after each Competition ends.
7. The prize
7.1 The prize is the graded collectible trading card described on the Competition page (the “Prize”). All Prizes are genuine, authentic, lawfully acquired products; where stated, they are professionally graded and encapsulated by an independent grading company (e.g. BGS, PSA or CGC), and the certification number is verifiable on the grading company’s database. 7.2 The Prize is awarded in its sealed, encapsulated holder in the condition assessed by the grading company. The Promoter makes no representation as to the current or future market value of the Prize, which may fluctuate. 7.3 No cash alternative. The Prize is the card itself. It cannot be exchanged for cash or any other item at the winner’s election. If the Promoter is unable to supply the stated Prize due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, it will award a genuine copy of the same card of the same or higher grade, or a graded card of comparable nature and market value, or — only where no reasonable equivalent is available — a cash amount reflecting the market value of the Prize at the time of the award. 7.4 Winning the Prize transfers ownership of the physical card only, and no intellectual property rights in the artwork, characters or trademarks depicted on it.
8. Delivery
8.1 The Prize is shipped by fully insured, tracked and signature-required courier to the winner’s verified address, at the Promoter’s cost, within 21 (twenty-one) calendar days of receipt of the winner’s confirmed delivery details and completed verification. Risk in the Prize passes to the winner on delivery. 8.2 International winners — customs duties reimbursed. Where the Prize is delivered outside the United Kingdom, the Promoter pays the cost of insured, tracked shipping. Any customs duties, import VAT or handling fees levied by the destination country must initially be paid by the winner in order to release the Prize; however, the Promoter will reimburse the winner in full for such customs duties, import VAT and official handling fees, upon presentation of official supporting documentation (customs assessment notice, courier duty invoice and proof of payment). Reimbursement claims must be submitted to hello@winthecard.com within 30 (thirty) calendar days of delivery, and will be paid within 14 (fourteen) calendar days of the Promoter validating the documentation, to the winner’s nominated bank account or original payment method. Only official, documented duties, taxes and fees are reimbursable; storage charges, penalties or costs arising from the winner’s delay or failure to respond to the courier or customs authority are not. 8.3 It is the winner’s responsibility to provide an accurate delivery address and to respond to the courier and any customs authority in a timely manner. It is also the winner’s responsibility to ensure that the Prize may lawfully be imported into their country; if it cannot, the Promoter may deliver to an alternative lawful address nominated by the winner or, failing that, award a cash amount reflecting the market value of the Prize.
9. General
9.1 The Promoter may cancel, suspend or modify a Competition where required for reasons beyond its reasonable control (including fraud, technical failure or unlawful interference), in accordance with the Terms of Use. If a Competition is cancelled for any reason without a draw taking place, all Tickets for that Competition will be refunded in full. 9.2 Entry is subject to these Rules and the Terms of Use. The Promoter’s decisions in relation to a Competition are final, subject to your statutory rights. Nothing in these Rules affects your statutory rights as a consumer. 9.3 Winners may be invited to take part in publicity; participation is voluntary and is never a condition of receiving a prize. 9.4 Please play responsibly and only spend what you can afford. Entry limits and self-exclusion are available on request at hello@winthecard.com. Support is available from Citizens Advice (citizensadvice.org.uk), National Debtline (nationaldebtline.org) and GamCare (gamcare.org.uk). 9.5 These Rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
